Mexico Avocado Exports To The USA Been Halted Due To “A Threat”

Mexico is the largest producer of avocados in the world, with a contribution of one-third production of the total avocado production in the world. Michoacán, the city of Mexico, is the only region in the world with the largest production of avocados and accounts for 92% of the whole of Mexico’s avocados production.

Recently, an alleged threat to the US’s agriculture inspector caused the restrictions of Mexican avocados into the United States of America.

Threat To The Department

A threat to an American inspector has resulted in the halt of exports of Avocados of Mexico to the United States of America. An alleged phone call to the inspector of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) threatened to ban the imports of avocados in the US from Mexico. Officially, no statement is made by the US agricultural department (USDA) so far regarding the ban.

The imports of avocados slumped during the pandemic but with the introduction of the year 2021 and lifted trade restrictions, the export of avocados from Mexico to the US rebounded.
